This was a shoot for a West Coast PR firm's magazine called THE CONNECTOR. It involved two stand-up comedians and a makeup artist. I had not met these people before, but I did do some research on them so that I would be prepared to talk about things they knew. I had spoken with the editor/art director during the weeks prior to the shoot so I knew it was for a cover, but as I've said many times before, when you are shooting for a magazine, you want to provide as many images as possible.

I arrived about an hour early and began to set up my lights. I had an idea of the kind of shot I wanted, but hadn't actually seen the club before. I always like to scout the location ahead of time so that I know what I'll be dealing with in terms of lighting. In this case, I had seen some videos shot at this club, so I kind of knew the lay of the land. Still, I made some preliminary lighting tests:
