You can see the effect of the blue gel on the background and the red gel on the woman's hair. Because my lights were already set up, I could get some different shots from other places in the club without changing my exposure. Here was one from a bit further back:

Remember, it's the "lamp-to-subject" distance that determines exposure, not the camera-to-subject distance (unless the light is attached to the camera!). The more distant shot gives a bit more ambiance to the image. This image also provides a dark foreground for a caption to be added.

This was a successful shoot because the subjects were totally involved in generating some interesting poses, the makeup artist (thank you Jill Harth), added important finishing touches, and because I was able to pre-light the set, the lighting was spot-on!
