When folks relocate, their first concern is housing. In northwestern Pennsylvania, there’s a neighborhood for every budget and taste.

According to Karen Wesmiller, a Howard Hanna real-estate agent, northwest Pennsylvania has many benefits of a large city, without the traffic and high real-estate prices. “It’s only 10 minutes to anywhere,” she says. “There’s always something to do, and you don’t have to have a lot of money to live here.”

Here’s a list of ten top neighborhoods in the Erie area (in alphabetical order).

1. Asbury Woods Estates, Millcreek – Well-lit, side-walked streets gently wind past executive-caliber homes. It’s adjacent to Asbury Woods Nature Center, which offers cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, classes, and day camps.

2. Frontier, Erie – “One of the most sought-after locations in Erie, this neighborhood is a study in Erie history,” says Dottie Schloss, a RE/MAX realtor. “Many of the homes were built in the 1925 era, and owners have taken much pride in preservation.”

3. Glenwood, Erie – Like Frontier, the stately homes in Glenwood have preserved a bit of Erie's history. “Homeowners in this neighborhood enjoy proximity to the beloved Erie Zoo, as well as downtown Erie, shopping, and conveniences,” says Schloss.
