Future Business Leaders of America

Future Business Leaders of America is a nationally recognized organization that promotes student leaders , service , business , and career experience . Pequannock Township High School is fortunate to have its chapter of this organization led by faculty member Al Wehrhahn . Aside from monthly meetings and community service work , FBLA participates in Regional , State , and National competitions throughout the school year . This past March , Pequannock FBLA members competed at the State Leadership Conference in Atlantic City , New Jersey . During this three-day event , students conversed with FBLA members from different chapters within the state , tested or presented their projects , enjoyed fine dining experiences , and attended the highly anticipated awards ceremony . PTHS is proud of all those who challenged themselves by engaging in this competition , especially the twelve members who placed within the top ten for their event . Out of the twelve , a total of six members are advancing to FBLA Nationals in Atlanta , Georgia .
FBLA also resumed its annual Volleyball Tournament at Pequannock Township High School this past March . A total of fourteen co-ed teams , students and staff , battled each other for bragging rights , and the reputation as the best PTHS volleyball team ever assembled . Teams creatively selected names and several fully embraced the team camaraderie by choosing a specific color theme to wear . A special thank you to Mr . McBurney for providing the tournament rules and regulations , and thank you to Pequannock FBLA ’ s advisor , Mr . Wehrhahn , and the current FBLA Executive Board for bringing this fun-filled tradition back . Congratulations to the Muffin Top Lazers ( Finn Powers , Daniel Benevenia , Thomas Lyon , Brian Arnold , Dante Cheff , and Hannah Maselli ), on winning the tournament .
Another tradition that FBLA helped maintain is the Pequannock Polar Plunge . The Chamber of Commerce and Pequannock Township High School ’ s FBLA joined forces to increase interest and participation in this event . FBLA was tasked with engaging students , which was accomplished with a polar bear suit and numerous flyers . FBLA members also volunteered on the day of the event to assist with set-up , activities , and clean-up . Given the turnout , this year ’ s Polar Plunge was a success and FBLA is looking forward to continuing its efforts of promoting the plunge and other community events in the future .
