Operation Smile Wreaths Across America
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization with a mission to remember and honor veterans . The organization allows people to sponsor and raise money for the laying of balsam wreaths on veteran graves at approximately 3,700 cemeteries in all 50 U . S . states as a symbol of respect . Every year , on a Saturday in December , the truck convoy that carries the thousands of wreaths travels from Maine to Arlington Cemetery in Washington D . C . to commence the nationwide Wreaths Across America Day . On Saturday , December 17th , 2022 , Operation Smile worked with school organizations from Passaic County Technical Institute to complete the laying of the wreaths at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa , New Jersey . This year , the ceremony began at 11:00 am with the sound of bagpipes and fired rifles . Volunteers placed the 3,000 wreaths on the headstones of veteran graves with a dedication note . Wreaths Across America donated $ 5 to Operation Smile for every wreath sold . Operation Smile is looking forward to participating in the event again and hopes to exceed its goal of sponsoring 100 wreaths !
On Monday , January 23rd , 2023 , Unified Sports held their annual Unified Basketball game at the high school . Jefferson Township ’ s and Butler ’ s Club Unify joined Pequannock in a tournamentstyle basketball game . Each team faced each other for a quarter and the final quarter was played by the top two teams . Pequannock was represented by Zachary Ricker , Thomas Hoffman , Catherine Laauwe , Isabella Basile , Joseph Gaffey , Jakemarie Roby , and Katelyn O ’ Brien .
