Concert Band
Winter Concert
Concert Band is a non-audition wind and percussion ensemble made up of students in grades 9-12 . All 66 students of the concert band meet every day at 9th period . In this class , students are able to learn about the skills of their instrument . Also , they learn about music and performing in a music ensemble . The concert band performs at a winter concert , a spring concert , and will be attending the NJ state concert band festival . Concert Band is a great way to experience music . Being in a musical ensemble is a very special experience . This class allows students to learn about music every day and also learn life skills and accountability .
The winter concert on December 15 featured the concert band , the jazz band , and the choir . The concert band played a medley of holiday tunes in addition to some contemporary band literature . In February , the PTHS Concert Band will be working in partnership with Dr . Thomas McCauley . Dr . Thomas McCauley is currently the Director of University Bands in the John J . Cali School of Music at Montclair State University in New Jersey where he conducts the Montclair State University Wind Symphony and teaches both graduate and undergraduate conducting .
