As the country opens up and vaccinations increase , whiffs of wanderlust seem to fill the air . Zoom calls even seem tolerable as we dream of answering the call of far off climes .

These moments of romanticised reverie seem to almost shield us from the realities of the journey compared to the destination . As enthusiastic as we are about the prospect of soaring above the clouds , it helps us to wear our professional hat and anticipate some of the pitfalls that may lie in wait .
First up , the journey to the airport . Nobody wants to be on holiday picturing their car parked in an airport garage gathering dust as the parking ticket fee rises by the hour . There is always the close friend you can rely on to drop you off , but that of course means you will have to return the favour one day when he or she needs to catch a red-eye . You can bite the bullet and just Uber unless you are one of the fortunate ones who has a few trips built into some financial service .
Then it is time to check in . Here is to hoping you have not forgotten any of your travelling wisdom garnered over the years and arrive having carry-on luggage . Packed with all the essentials you would need , this is your survival kit if the worst has to happen . As you watch your larger bag travelling away from you on the conveyor belt , you can only hope that you meet again at your destination or if not , that you are eventually reunited .
