Dear PPMI Participant, First, let me say, as a study coordinator for PPMI at Northwestern University, seeing each PPMI participant come in for their visits is one of the best parts of my job. It’s inspiring to see how willing you are to give of yourself for the benefit of others in the pursuit of a biomarker. Working toward identifying a biomarker is essential to the future of Parkinson’s research. It could have the potential to help doctors diagnose the disease sooner and eventually generate new treatments that may be used even before motor symptoms present themselves. Your involvement in this study is crucial to its success. As a coordinator, I consider it my job to make sure that you have everything you need to stick with the study. We are all in this together and the potential for what we could learn from so many years of data and specimens being generated in PPMI is staggering. What you’re doing as a participant in PPMI is nothing short of extraordinary—and the field of Parkinson’s research will be eternally grateful. Thank you.
