PowHERhouse Fall 2017 | Page 29

We can all take a page out of Lily's playbook:

Each and every one of us is capable of awe-inspiring feats of mental and physical strength. It’s often our own fear that gets in the way. Through rigorous training Lily strengthens her resolve, proving to herself time and time again she’s capable of incredible things. She loves pushing her abilities to new limits and enjoys the tired, satisfied feeling of accomplishment and deep rest that follows a new challenge. She admits the training is intense, but results are undeniable.

Lily continues to push personal boundaries, grow stronger and train hard. Well on her way to achieving her most recent goal of squatting 300 pounds which would mean beating her own provincial record. She’s gunning for a powerlifting scholarship from the University of Toronto to continue focusing on her athletic goals and pursue a degree in kinesiology.

Lily's most recent competition was the Vancity Showdown on October 14, 2017. This was Lily's third IPF British Columbia Powerlifting Association competition. Unlike most competitions, this one was an open age category, meaning people of all ages were competing against each other. Lily was the youngest competitor and placed second overall. She broke all of her outstanding provincial records as well as unofficially broke the deadlift, bench, and total national records. Congratulations Lily!
