Your relationship with the Lord must always have top priority over everything else. The Lord said, “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3), and He means it. God wants your undivided attention. When you seek Him ?rst every day and ask Him to help you put your life in order, He will do that. I know from experience, and I’m sure you do too, that when we don’t seek God ?rst, our lives get out of control. As a result, our lives start ruling us instead of us being in charge of them. God is a God of order. We can tell that by looking at the universe. None of it is random or accidental. He doesn’t want our lives to be either. His will is that we “let all things be done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40). And when we pray to Him about it, He will help us do just that. He will show us how to align ourselves under proper authority so that we can come under the covering of His protection. This is crucial to our moving into all God has for us. The Submission Issue Submission is something you decide to do, not something someone forces you to do. The meaning of the word “submit” is “to submit yourself.” It’s a condition of the heart. Having a submitted heart means you are willing to submit yourself and come into proper alignment in accordance with God’s will. Our ?rst priority in submission must always be to “submit to God” (James 4:7). This means you do not have to submit to the wishes of anyone who asks you to do something that is against God’s commands. You can have a submitted heart and still be able to draw the line when what is
