SAINT JAMES SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN ALABAMA GIRLS STATE AND BOYS STATE
Saint James School rising seniors Clint Shores and Anna Dickey recently participated in the sessions of the American Legion Auxiliary ’ s Alabama Girls and Boys State programs . During Anna ’ s week serving as the school ’ s delegate , Anna learned about all levels of state government , was elected Girls State Senate Secretary of State , was inspired by female leaders in our community , and made friendships that will last a lifetime . During his week of the program , Clint ran for office , participated in various campaigns , learned about the many facets of government , and formed friendships with students from all over Alabama . Saint James School sends representatives to Girls State and Boys State each summer . These students enjoy the experience and learn lessons which will often impact their futures .
17 LAMP STUDENTS NAMED AS SEMIFINALISTS IN NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
MONTGOMERY CATHOLIC ’ S HAELY MCBEAL NOMINATED FOR CONGRESS OF FUTURE MEDICAL LEADERS
Haely McBeal , Sophomore Honor student and President ’ s List Recipient at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School of Montgomery , Alabama is a Delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Lowell , MA on June 21-23 , 2023 . The Congress is an honorsonly program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields . The purpose of this event is to honor , inspire , motivate and direct the top students in the country interested in these careers , to stay true to their dream and , after the event , to provide a path , plan and resources to help them reach their goal . Haely ' s nomination was signed by Dr . Mario Capecchi , winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine and the Science Director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists to represent Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School based on her academic achievement , leadership potential and determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine .
It is the largest group of students to receive the honor at LAMP in several years , and LAMP has one of the highest numbers of semifinalists in the state . Overall , there are more than 240 semifinalists from 60 schools in Alabama .
