FORTY-NINE MONTGOMERY ACADEMY
STUDENTS NAMED AP SCHOLARS
Forty-nine students at The Montgomery Academy have earned the
designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their
exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement
Program® (AP®) Exams. Students took AP Exams in May 2018 after
completing challenging college-level courses in the Upper School.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on
students’ performance on AP Exams.
Seventeen students were named AP Scholars, which is granted to
students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP
Exams: Sarah Barnes ‘19, Mary Elizabeth Bullard ‘19, Kevin Doh ‘18,
William Hamlett ‘19, Andrew Hosp ‘19, Tara Katz ‘19, Luke Knight ‘18,
Margaret Leonard ‘18, Phillip McKenzie ‘18, Sarah Payne ‘18, Victoria
Riley ‘18, Thomas Rutland ‘18, Lee Sahlie ‘19, Meg Walker ‘18, Dallon
Wallis ‘18, Bradley Westhauser ‘19 and Lee Yelverton ‘18.
Sixteen students were named AP Scholars with Honor, which is
granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all
AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these
exams: Taabish Arshad ‘18, Austyn Barnes ‘18, Seth Brand ‘19, Carter
Chandler ‘19, Lucy Chapman ‘19, Emma Cleary ‘19, Maylon Davis
‘18, Caroline Deale ‘19, Francie Hill ‘19, Pio Jung ‘18, Ben Marquess
‘18, Lauren Muller ‘18, Isabella Rowland ‘19, Hannah Soloff ‘19, Anne
Carlson Sylvest ‘19 and Isabel Trehern ‘18.

granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all
AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these
exams: Bisola Adediji ‘19, Maddie Brazil ‘18, Spencer Campbell ‘18,
Will Franklin ‘18, Andrew Harris ‘18, Reese Kelso ‘18, Nathan Pohlman

Winter 2018
Edgewood Academy held a “See You at the
Pole” ceremony on Wednesday, September 26,
2018. As everyone gathered around the flag,
teens from the school’s First Priority Group
led students, parents, and teachers in prayer
and devotion related to this year’s theme,
“Broken”. Amelia Welch and Cole Freeman led
the music. Personal testimonies were shared,
Bible scriptures read, and encouraging words
were spoken by other high school students.
Emotions, tears, and smiles were seen among
the crowd. It was an awesome time of worship
for all who shared and listened
SWIMCATS MAKE BIG SPLASH AT
WESTMINSTER INVITATIONAL!
The Varsity Girls and Boys Swim Teams had
an excellent showing at the Westminster
Knightfall Invitational in Birmingham on
Tuesday, October 2. They competed against
16 other teams. Congratulations to the girls
team, who came in third overall! Prather
Anne Hargrove, Carson King, Lilly Yancey,
and Lauren Vermillion scored points for the
team by coming in 3rd in the Medley Relay
and 4th in the 200 Free Relay! Prather Anne
swept all of her individual events by coming
1st in the 50 Free, 200 Free, and 100 Fly! Lilly
Yancey came in 4th in the 200 Free and Lauren
Vermillion came in 5th in the 200 Free! In
addition to these great performances, several
swimmers got personal best times. Lilly Yancey
dropped time in all three of her individual
events! Lauren Vermillion and Beck Tuley both
dropped time in the 50 free! Congratulations
on a great meet, Cats!
