Eastwood Christian School 1701 E. Trinity Blvd, Montgomery, AL • (334) 272-8195 • www.eastwoodschool.org About: ECS provides broad-based knowledge in the context of a Christian worldview. The reading of great thinkers in history, evaluated in the light of God’s Word; the training of logic and rhetoric; and the use of time-tested educational methods which have shaped Western culture and the Church for centuries are foundational in an ECS education. Class Size: Kindergarten-12th grade student-to-teacher ratio is 10:1; average class size is 15. Academics: Eastwood’s curriculum centers on developing thinking, articulate students. A study of history, literature, science, and mathematics, philosophy, theology, Latin, logic and rhetoric emphasizes not just facts, but also wisdom. The reading of classical literature with writing assignments focused on literary analysis helps cultivate powerful minds. During the senior year, students write and defend a fifteen-page thesis based on a classi- cal work of literature. Music/Fine Arts: Music and art classes are made available on campus after school. Students have opportunities for oral pres- entation and performance by participating in a spring musical, as well as giving recitations at events such as “Shakespeare in the Park.” As part of their academic requirements for graduation, each senior delivers a speech to students, faculty, and parents. Athletics: Eastwood students participate in Cross Country, Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, and Baseball. Prospective college athletes are assisted in the college application and eligibility process, and in recent years, ECS students have gone on to compete at Troy University, Covenant College, Birmingham Southern, Huntingdon College, Faulkner University, and Judson College. College Prep: Nearly 100% of students go on to a four-year college and ECS graduates have matriculated to over 30 colleges and universities. The ECS Class of 2018, with only 16 members, was awarded over $2.38 million in scholarships. The average ACT score for this class was 28.
