ACA SOFTBALL STAR, HALEY
PITTMAN, SIGNS WITH THE
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA
Haley Pittman, Alabama Christian
Academy’s softball pitcher, signed her letter of
intent with the University of Florida. Pittman
has set and broken many ACA school records,
she pitched for the Lady Eagles last year to
help her team bring home the State Title
and was also recognized as the MVP for the
State of Alabama. Although Haley is thrilled
to be a Gator, ACA is excited to have her
on the mound for one more season. Coach

PCA students showcased their creative talents by participating in
The Arts Council of Montgomery’s Doing Our Own Thing (D.O.O.T.)
visual arts contest.
Joy Cathey and Cole Swarts placed in the juried art contest.
Joy’s opaque painting submission of a realistic portrait received an
honorable mention and Cole’s mixed media submission of a beautifully
adorned Japanese Geisha placed second among the hundreds of
entries. The event may be best known for its sidewalk chalk art
drawing competition! Local celebrities judge the on-site creations
from several area schools. This year’s group of 23 art students placed
third in the sidewalk chalk competition with a stunning collage of the
River Region’s rich history entitled “History of the River Region”. The
design features silhouettes of a Native American chieftain, Richard
Montgomery, Daniel Pratt, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Rosa Parks.
The Arts Council of Montgomery’s Doing Our Own Thing
(D.O.O.T.) visual arts contest is a day of education and expression
as well as an art show for students in grades 9-12 from across
Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore counties. Art contest submissions
allow students to attend intensive one-day workshops taught by
professional artists from across the state. Workshops include art forms
such as pottery, painting, mosaics, drawing, sculpture, and more.
