PCA STUDENTS PLACE IN LOCAL ART CONTEST ACA SOFTBALL STAR, HALEY PITTMAN, SIGNS WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA Haley Pittman, Alabama Christian Academy’s softball pitcher, signed her letter of intent with the University of Florida. Pittman has set and broken many ACA school records, she pitched for the Lady Eagles last year to help her team bring home the State Title and was also recognized as the MVP for the State of Alabama. Although Haley is thrilled to be a Gator, ACA is excited to have her on the mound for one more season. Coach Goodman could not be more proud of Haley and all of her many accomplishments within his softball program at ACA. TALLASSEE’S STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER Tallassee City Schools’ Macey Stewart wins the AHSAA 1A-5A State Championship in the women’s 100 meter freestyle! L16 | Spring 2020 PCA students showcased their creative talents by participating in The Arts Council of Montgomery’s Doing Our Own Thing (D.O.O.T.) visual arts contest. Joy Cathey and Cole Swarts placed in the juried art contest. Joy’s opaque painting submission of a realistic portrait received an honorable mention and Cole’s mixed media submission of a beautifully adorned Japanese Geisha placed second among the hundreds of entries. The event may be best known for its sidewalk chalk art drawing competition! Local celebrities judge the on-site creations from several area schools. This year’s group of 23 art students placed third in the sidewalk chalk competition with a stunning collage of the River Region’s rich history entitled “History of the River Region”. The design features silhouettes of a Native American chieftain, Richard Montgomery, Daniel Pratt, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Rosa Parks. The Arts Council of Montgomery’s Doing Our Own Thing (D.O.O.T.) visual arts contest is a day of education and expression as well as an art show for students in grades 9-12 from across Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore counties. Art contest submissions allow students to attend intensive one-day workshops taught by professional artists from across the state. Workshops include art forms such as pottery, painting, mosaics, drawing, sculpture, and more. MONTGOMERY ACADEMY CELEBRATES TEN YEARS OF PROVIDING CHRISTMAS CHEER AT BRANTWOOD Montgomery Academy’s community service club, H.E.A.R.T.’s (Helping Eagles Are Right There) Christmas project was a huge success thanks to the students, faculty and staff ’s generosity!
