ACA SENIOR SERVE DAY Alabama Christian Academy has created a culture of Serving. This month the Senior students had the opportunity to make a difference in the River Region area. The 77 students split up into different locations. The Montgomery Zoo, The Salvation Army, the Medical Outreach Mission and Dalraida Church of Christ Missions Warehouse made this day possible. MONTGOMERY ACADEMY STUDENTS EXCEL IN REGIONAL STOCK MARKET SIMULATION Two Economics students in Dr. Scott Morris’ class at The Montgomery Academy placed in the Alabama Council on Economic Education’s regional stock market game. The game is a real-time simulation of the actual stock market, offering the opportunity to invest $100,000 in virtual currency. Jennings Lawson came in third, with gains of 15.1%, winning a $100 cash prize, and Bryant McClendon came in fifth, with gains of 14.6%, winning a $50 cash prize. MONTGOMERY CATHOLIC STUDENTS DONATE NEARLY 7,000 CANNED GOODS FOR THE HOLIDAYS According to www.feedingamerica.org, one out of every six people in the state of Alabama struggles with hunger, including one in four children. The Society of St. Vincent De Paul, a Catholic lay organization, hopes to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable among us through works of charity, especially those who are hungry. Each fall, they hold a food drive to bring much-needed nourishment to needy families during the holiday season. The students at Montgomery Catholic helped the Society of St. Vincent De Paul by collecting nearly 7,000 canned and non-perishable food items, which were sorted distributed throughout the community just in time for Thanksgiving. L14 | Spring 2020 BREWBAKER STUDENT BEATS RECORDS Brewbaker Technology Magnet High student Chanice Spicer set a new meet record at the Showdown at the Birmingham Crossplex on Friday! Her 60-meter time was 7.63, beating the old record of 7.69! Chanice won two silvers and a bronze at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. www.potentialmagazine.com
