This team is now qualified for the Alabama VEX Robotics State Championship which will be held on Thursday February 27th on the Campus of Auburn University. BrewTech Robotics now has six teams qualified for the state championship. Recently, Eastwood Christian School students in Mrs. Taylor’s Algebra 2 class hosted a math fair for students in Eastwood’s own lower school, as well as for students at Montgomery Christian School. The Eastwood students used games, a little magic and a lot of enthusiasm to get the younger students excited about learning math. The math fair hosted approximately 100 students, including about 50 from each school in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The younger students learned about fractions, addition, subtraction and patterns from the 10th grade Algebra 2 students, who designed all the activities for a project grade. Groups of students rotated through four different activities and earned a prize for completing each activity. Not only did the math fair result in encouraging an understanding of and interest in math, but younger and older students alike had fun doing it. EDGEWOOD’S ROTARY TEACHER GRANT WINNERS CHURCHILL TAKES AN ADVENTURE High School students from Churchill Academy took an off-site November adventure to the Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park in North Alabama.
