About : Bishop State Community College is an open-admission , urban community college located in Mobile , Alabama — the home of Mardi Gras ! • Bishop State was established in 1927 as the Mobile Branch of Alabama State College , now known as Alabama State University .
• Construction on the $ 21 million Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center and the Center for Nursing and Health Sciences on the Main campus is nearing completion . Classes in both buildings are expected to begin Fall 2022 .
