LAMP HIGH SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM WINS HONORS AT STATE TOURNAMENT
The LAMP High Speech and Debate Team had a great state tournament at Samford University . The team came away with an overall third-place finish and Coach Jordan Berry was recognized as the Lois A . Askew Coach of the Year . The team also had two state champions , Kileigh Dickinson and Rhea Rastogi . Kileigh was named the state champion in the Congressional Debate category after finishing first overall . Rhea placed as the 2nd Overall Speaker in Junior Varsity Lincoln Douglas but was able to finish as state champion for the second year in a row .
SAINT JAMES SCHOOL STUDENT ATHLETES SIGN SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS
Three Saint James student-athletes signed letters of intent to play sports at the collegiate level on athletic scholarships . All three of these student-athletes were recognized at a signing ceremony on the Saint James campus in front of family , friends , and the high school student body . Two sport athlete Danielle Greene signed to play volleyball at Birmingham- Southern . Jonathan Harris signed on to play football at Tuskegee University . Bradley Thomas will continue his athletic career in football at Alabama State University .
THE MONTGOMERY ACADEMY CLASS OF 2022 EARNED MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS OVER $ 10 MILLION
The Class of 2022 has made significant contributions in the classroom , in the arts , in the sports arena , and in the community . Composed of 62 students , with acceptances to 74 different institutions of higher learning , they will be attending 25 different colleges and universities this fall . One hundred percent of the class received at least one merit scholarship offer , and the class as a whole has been offered over $ 10,058,874 in merit-based scholarships .
BTW BAND STUDENTS HAVE MASTERCLASS WITH UA MAESTRO
Booker T . Washington Magnet High Strings and Band students had a unique opportunity when they participated in a masterclass with Maestro Jamie Reeves . Reeves is the Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of Alabama . He has taken part in many international conducting masterclasses and competitions and has conducted orchestras all over the world . BTW Band Instructor Curtis Hollinger and Strings Instructor Shoronda Charles organized the masterclass .
