TRANSFER PROGRAMS
AND SCHOLARSHIPS
Thousands of Alabama’s freshmen and sophomores start their first college classes at community colleges
before transferring to a four-year university. The ACCS has an articulation agreement with the Alabama
Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAICU) that helps with the seamless transferring
of credits to the state’s private colleges. The Alabama Community College System has 2-to-4 programs
with these colleges and universities:
PUBLIC COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
Alabama State University: Accepted transfer students who
meet the requirements may complete the scholarship application.
Athens State: Athens State awards over $1,000,000 in scholar-
ships each year.
Auburn University: Incoming transfer students are considered
for scholarships that can be found in the Auburn University
Scholarship Opportunity Manager (AUSOM) by browsing "All"
scholarships and filtering for "Transfer."
Auburn University at Montgomery: Scholarship eligibility
starts with the completion of 45 academic credits and a 2.75 GPA
with opportunities for a full scholarship.
Jacksonville State University: All transfer scholarships listed
on JSU’s website require that students be first-time transfer stu-
dents. These scholarships are not stackable.
Troy University: Offers an unofficial transfer "FREE in 48"
equivalency report of your undergraduate transfer credits that
you have already completed.
University of Alabama: Students must not have attended UA
or any other four-year institution in order to be eligible for trans-
fer scholarships.
University of Alabama at Birmingham: New community
college transfer students are automatically considered for scholar-
ships upon admission to UAB.
University of Alabama in Huntsville: Students seeking their
first bachelor's degree are offered special two-year transfer schol-
arship awards.
University of Montevallo: After the June 1st priority date,
transfer scholarships are awarded on a funds available basis.
University of North Alabama: To be considered for a Com-
munity College Scholarship, a student must apply for admission
to the University.
University of South Alabama: Offers in-state tuition to all
students awarded an academic merit at the time of admission and
qualify for the renewable Community College Transfer Scholar-
ship.
University of West Alabama: To apply for freshman/transfer
scholarships, applicants should fill out the Trustee Scholarship
application.
PRIVATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
Birmingham-Southern College: These scholarships are
renewable annually for full-time students who maintain the
required GPA.
Faulkner University: Offers scholarships for Transfer appli-
cants only and are awarded based on cumulative GPA from all
colleges attended.
Samford University: Transfer scholarships are awarded per se-
mester for the expected number of semesters remaining to obtain
an undergraduate degree.
Spring Hill College: Transfer scholarships range from $16,000
to $23,000 annually and are renewable during your time on
campus.
Tuskegee University: A limited number of funds are set aside
exclusively for incoming transfer students.
The United States Sports Academy: Any applicant is eligi-
ble to transfer from another college or university and may qualify
for a scholarship.
University of Mobile: Transfer Academic Scholarships based
on incoming cumulative GPA.
