NORTHEAST ALABAMA – HVACR Technician The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program at Northeast Alabama Community College teaches the theories and principles of the operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) equipment. Students will have an opportunity to take nationally recognized exams, as well as preparatory classes for the Alabama State Board of Heating and Air Conditioning contractor’s exam. According to the US Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of HVACR technicians is projected to grow 15 percent through 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. Median Hourly Range: $18.04 SOUTHERN UNION – Licensed Massage Therapist The Therapeutic Massage Certificate program is designed to prepare individu- als to work as licensed massage therapists. LMTs (licensed massage therapists) may be self employed or employed at health clubs, medical clinics, chiroprac- tic offices, athletic departments, spas, salons, and holistic health centers. The course includes a variety of teaching methods; classroom lecture, hands on lab, clinical sessions, and outreach opportunities. Annual Salary Range: $21,000 - $45,000 BISHOP STATE - Ethical Hacking & Cyber Defense As our society grows more dependent on computers, the internet, and networks to get everyday jobs done, there is a growing demand for ethical hackers who can help individuals and companies remain secure by finding and fixing their vulnerabilities. Students range from individuals who want to protect their own systems–phones, computers, debit cards, etc.–to people striving to become computer forensics investigators. Annual Salary Range: $55,000 - $80,000 CENTRAL ALABAMA - Automotive Manufacturing Technology The Automotive Technology program career path is a multi-craft technical training program that begins with the basics of Industrial Maintenance and continues to prepare the students for a career maintaining the automation and robotics of modern industry through training in AC and DC theory to hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Students will also learn to program the Allen Bradley SLC-500, Micrologix 5000 PLC’s, Fanus, Motoman, and ABB robots. An AUT graduate is prepared to work within several industries. Annual Salary Average: $38,000-$80,000 JEFFERSON STATE - Manufacturing & Technology Manufacturing and technology is a field of study designed to prepare techni- cally oriented individuals for employment in rewarding, high-paying careers such as production technicians, industrial maintenance, automation tech- nicians, robotics, biomedical equipment technology, industrial/commercial electronics, computer aided drafting/design (CADD), and welding. Due to the shortage of trained manufacturing workers, individuals skilled in manufactur- ing and technology will be in tremendous demand for years to come.
