Spud Stats!
Colorado grows a lot of potatoes- but how does it compare to other states? In this activity, you’ ll use real potato production data to practice your math skills and learn more about where potatoes are grown across the country. Potato production is often measured in something called cwt, which stands for hundredweight. One cwt equals 100 pounds. So when we say a state produced 21 million cwt, that means it grew 2.1 billion pounds of potatoes! That’ s a lot of French fries! Grab your pencil and get ready to graph, compare, and crunch the numbers!
Instructions: Use the potato production chart to answer the questions and create your own graph.
