Writing Activity:“ A Day in the Life of a Potato Plant”
Imagine you ' re a potato plant growing in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. Write a short story about your life- from the moment you ' re planted as a seed potato to the day you ' re harvested. Be sure to describe how each part of your plant helps you grow, and include the changes you go through during your life cycle.
Your story should include:
• Where and when you were planted
• What happens as you start to grow
• How do your roots, stem, leaves, flowers, and tubers each help you
• What does the weather and soil feel like as you grow
