Postgraduate Programme Handbook Feb 2013 PLANNING YOUR STUDIES TIMESCALE FOR MODULE AND DEGREE COMPLETION A 12 week module completion timeline is applied to each module and a formal assessment submission date is specified. You are responsible for submitting your assessment on time and for communicating clearly with your module tutor if you experience any difficulties that may interfere with achieving the submission date. Non submission by the given date will result in this attempt being recorded as a fail. You can study part time or full time. Part time means enrolling on one module per semester, with full time allowing 2 modules to be studied per semester. You will be expected to complete your studies within 1 – 3 years part – time dependent on ScotCAT point requirements, with a maximum of 3 years to complete the programme of study. The expectation is that completion of all required assessments for the full degree is completed within that time. The enrolment period is calculated to include study breaks which sometimes become necessary, particularly for distance learning during the course of study. The normal minimum period of study or equivalent thereof to complete the requirements for each postgraduate award shall be as follows: Certificate Diploma MSc : : : 600 hours of study 1200 hours of study 1800 hours of study The maximum periods of study for each of the awards are as follows: for candidates studying on a full-time basis Certificate Diploma MSc : : : six months one year eighteen months and for candidates studying on a part-time basis Certificate Diploma MSc : : : one year two years three years Exceptionally your enrolment period may be extended by up to one year subject to the provision of evidence of mitigating circumstances and College Board approval. 18
