Centre for Creative and Immersive eXtended Reality( CCIXR)
Creative Technologies students make use of our virtual production and mixed reality studio. Alongside full-body motion capture, CCIXR offers facilities for facial and hand capture, providing full performance capture in real time. Multiple tracking solutions, including optical and inertial systems, ensure a versatile range of performance capture capabilities.
Institute of Marine Sciences( IMS)
A marine station with an international reputation. Applied Aquatic Biology students use our facilities to monitor and test marine environments and seawater. This includes looking at how humans impact marine ecosystems and how materials react to different marine environments.
Mock courtroom
In our replica of a Crown Court, students of Law and Corporate Governance can gain practical experience through mooting and simulated court cases.
Extreme environments laboratories
Applied Sport and Exercise Performance students can explore comfort, performance and survival in environments such as high altitudes, humid jungles and rough seas.
Music and sound recording studios
Music Technology students use high-end professional technology to get the best results from complex recording sessions. Facilities include a 96-channel Neve Genesys Black console and Dolby Atmos 7.14 surround studio.
Bloomberg Suite
Students of Economics, Finance and Banking, and Financial Technology can analyse real-time financial market data and trade virtually using Bloomberg software.
Dental Pre-Clinical Skills Laboratory
Students of Advanced Aesthetic and Restorative Dental Therapy develop professional skills. Each station is equipped with a dental handpiece, suction, overhead lamp and computer.
Business Simulation Suite
A flexible technology-enhanced learning facility used by students on our Global MBA, International Business Management MSc, Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship MSc, and Risk, Crisis and Resilience Management MSc. The suite can be a boardroom, command centre, classroom, or a room for practising speech and presentation skills.
Forensic Investigation Centre( FIC)
Our partnership with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary sees staff and Crime Scene Investigators work closely with students on our criminology Master’ s courses to advance forensic education, research and innovation.
Advanced Composite Materials and Manufacturing Laboratory
Students of Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering design, create, test and analyse materials such as biomechanics, ceramics, metals, alloys, composites and plastics.
Renewable Energy Lab
Energy and Power Systems Management students use modelling software and physical equipment including ground mounted solar panels, a solid oxide fuel cell CHP plant, and high-efficiency lithium ion batteries to explore sustainable power generation and storage.
