At least an upper second class honours degree in Psychology or closely related subject that is recognised by The British Psychological Society as conferring Graduate Basis for Chartered membership ( GBC ).
Applicants from other degree subjects containing a significant element of psychology may also be considered on a case-by-case basis .

Psychology and Learning Disability ( Distance Learning ) MSc
Progress or kick-start your career working with people with learning disabilities , by gaining the skills and knowledge to develop your profession and become a specialist .
Delve into learning disability , neurodiversity and autism from a psychological perspective , as opposed to a nursing perspective . Learn about the role that psychological methodologies and analytical techniques can have in the planning and delivery of learning support at an individual and organisational level .
Study contemporary practices , critical theories and case studies , and investigate how neurodivergent and learning disabled people can be best supported in healthcare , education and workplace settings . Increase awareness and understanding in the sector and beyond , about the positive role of psychology and psychotherapy in the study of learning disability . Complete an individual research project on a topic of your choice . Each year we present the Sue Buckley Award – named after our esteemed Emeritus Professor of Development Disability – for best project .

CONTACT TIME
You can expect up to 10 hours per week engaging with the core course materials and attending online sessions ( roughly , one lecture , seminar , workshop or tutorial every two weeks ). All core course materials are available online at all times , so you can create your own study schedule around work or other commitments .
Clinical Exercise Science MSc
Advance your career in a variety of clinical settings and have the opportunity to work towards becoming a certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist .
Gain practical and professional skills in fitness assessment and exercise interventions , such as medical management , exercise prescription and behaviour change . Learn how to support people with long-term health conditions and improve their quality of life . Build expertise and professional skills in medical management , fitness assessment , exercise prescription , behaviour change , exercise and physical activity .
Develop your understanding of key clinical applications , including the relationship between exercise and chronic disease ; the psychological effects of exercise ; and the importance of testing . Put this into practice through physiological assessments . Learn how to communicate with clients in a professional and approachable way . Practise your skills in our Physiology and Biomechanics laboratories . Connect with clinicians from Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and learn real-life practical skills in physiological assessment .

CONTACT TIME
You can expect 6 – 10 hours of teaching time every week ( pro rata for part time ). At the moment , this happens on campus and on various days during the week . In the last three months of the course you ’ ll be focusing on your independent study project .

Bursaries
If you ’ re competing at national standard or above in your sport , you may be eligible for funding . Around 20 student-athletes are awarded bursaries between £ 500 and £ 3,000 per year .
