Teacher Training

Further Education and Teacher Training PGCE
This course will give you the skills and confidence to be a successful teacher in the further education ( FE ) and training sector . This route provides a recognised teaching qualification to work as a teacher in an FE College or the wider training sector , mainly with students aged 16 and above .
We can support all subject areas and Level 3 qualifications covered across the sector .
If you ’ re already working in the field , you can choose to study part time at one of our partner colleges ( Havant and South Downs College , Chichester College , St Vincent College campus , Isle of Wight College and Eastleigh College ).
Postgraduate Certificate of Education ( PGCE )
Our PGCE courses have three interconnected strands : Curriculum Studies , Professional Studies and School Experience . You ' ll gain new skills and knowledge in taught sessions . Then put them into practice in the classroom , where you ' ll develop your abilities in relevant teaching conditions .

Fees
UK / Channel Islands : £ 9,250 International : £ 16,200
UK fee-paying students , including EU students with settled status , studying a full-time Postgraduate Certificate in Education ( PGCE ) course can apply for the same package of support as undergraduate students . You may also be eligible for a tax-free bursary or scholarship when training to teach .
Entry requirements
• A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject – formal qualifications , experiential learning and Recognition of Prior Learning ( RPL ) are also considered
• GCSE Mathematics and English language at grade 4 ( grade C ) or above , or equivalent – the PGCE Primary course additionally requires a

Science GCSE at grade 4 ( grade C ) or above , or equivalent
• All shortlisted applicants are subject to interview
• All offers are subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service ( DBS ) clearance and Occupational Health clearance
• Full-time students are provided with a teaching placement by the University
* If you choose the PGCE Further Education part time option , we ’ ll expect you to secure your own teaching placement of at least 50 hours per year , plus an identified subject mentor . If full time , we ’ ll arrange your teaching placement .
