School of Nursing and Midwifery
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is proud of the high standard of
educational excellence and support provided by its academics. With our
state-of-the-art facilities and flexible learning, our continued aim is to help our
students develop their health professional career and personal development.
We understand the pressure on
our postgraduate students, which
is why we offer a range of part-time
modules and study programmes.
These include Nursing and Midwifery
Council (NMC) and Health and
Care Professions Council (HCPC)
approved programmes and
modules, in addition to non-
professionally regulated courses.
Over 700 qualified health care
professionals undertake modules
or programmes each year,
normally on a part-time basis. The
School also offers a Professional
Doctorate Programme supported
by a range of School academics,
all of whom are currently engaged
in some form of research. Staff
are committed to developing,
conducting and disseminating
high quality, applied research
and welcome research students
to join our vibrant, dynamic and
creative research team.
Based at the Clinical Education
Centre (CEC), within the Royal
Stoke Hospital, The School of
Nursing and Midwifery has extensive
clinical skills laboratories, a large
health library and IT facilities
available to its students.
The School has an exceptional
academic team who support
students. Flexible learning
and teaching approaches are
employed, aiming to enhance
effective learning at post-
registration, mindful that students
are often working clinically
alongside their programme of
study. Multidisciplinary learning
and team working is key to
professional healthcare workforce,
fit for the future; and our state-
of-the-art facilities support this.
Our strap-line ‘Educating for
Excellence, Compassion and

by the recent Guardian League
Tables for 2018. It represents our
excellent partnership working
with key stakeholders, local and

serving to strengthen the

“I found the Specialist Practice course at Keele one
of the most intense years I’ve ever experienced; it was
also the most enjoyable. Six months on I have the
confident, knowledge and ability to lead the District
Nursing service.”
