One of the most spectacular coastal drives in the world , Chapman ’ s Peak Drive might be just over five miles long but it packs in 114 curves and offers incredible 180-degree views of the Atlantic coastline on South Africa ’ s Cape Peninsula . With the towering mountainside of Chapman ’ s Peak on one side and sheer drops down to the ocean below , it ’ s a breathtaking route . Respite from the hair-raising drive is available on the way : stop at one of the picnic spots for lunch with a view , or spend some time whale-watching from the vantage points .
