FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT HOME AND STUDIO
This is where Lloyd Wright ’ s dreams and masterplans were formed . Here , he lived and worked in comfort through the 1890s and was inspired to create a new America . The house is at 951 Chicago Avenue in Oak Park and the studio followed next door . It was in this studio that Lloyd Wright worked with some of the finest minds and artistic visionaries of the time to create more than 150 pieces of architecture . illustrations : Lis watkins
EMIL BACH HOUSE
With its big picture windows , harmony of vertical and horizontal lines and manicured bushes , the Emil Bach House is almost Japanese in style ( Lloyd Wright later went to Japan to learn and design ). This playful house was designed for Emil Bach of the Bach Brick Company and dates from 1915 . The house is at 7415 N . Sheridan Road , near the Lake Michigan shoreline in Rogers Park and was added to the U . S . National Register of Historic Places in 1979 .
THE ROOKERY LOBBY
Another sidestep from house design was this lobby for an office building . The Rookery Building is a classic Daniel H . Burnham-designed high-rise from 1888 , when Chicago was in the midst of a building explosion . The dramatic lobby was created by Lloyd Wright in 1905 and epitomizes a more modern era with space and light aplenty , perfectly balancing the beautiful Burnham & Root ornamental ironwork . It ’ s located at 209 South LaSalle Street , in the Loop .
