DAY 3
For your final day tour , head down to Venture Outdoors on the South Shore for an early morning kayak trip along the river . This calm paddle will give you a water-top view of the city ’ s skyline and a new perspective of the river ’ s famed bridges . Alternatively , take one of the vintage carriage hill carts up to Mount Washington on the Monongahela Incline . Pittsburgh ’ s old funicular railway takes just a few minutes and provides the perfect city-top vantage . After you ’ re finished admiring the view , cross over Smithfield Street Bridge for lunch in Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh . Try the juicy turkey sandwich at Bluebird Kitchen while you soak up the old school industrial design and attractive vintage decor .

Randyland museum
Spend the afternoon lost in museums and art galleries , crossing back over to the North Shore . Start at the Mattress Factory , a gallery of modern art so experimental it ’ s styled as a ‘ laboratory .’ Next , head to Randyland . Home to artist Randy Gibson ’ s murals and objects , Randyland is kaleidoscopic and a total sensory overload . Randy himself is usually on hand to talk visitors through it . Then , end your afternoon tour at the National Aviary , filled with exotic birds and colorful species rarely seen anywhere else .
Dipping back into the city ’ s history , have your final dinner at the Federal Galley food hall . The building , now home to a variety of pop-up restaurants , was once a bank . Enjoy its original features , its aging archways and high security vaults , preserving the industrial past of this historic city .
