Portuguese Lighting: TACORSIL was created approximately 35 years ago. What motivated you to pursue this world of lighting?

Rui C. Brandão: Our entry into the lighting sector arose from the desire to build a solid and differentiated family business. By analyzing a market with limited supply, we identify a unique opportunity to innovate. Driven by the determination to create innovative solutions and leave a legacy, my uncle, Manuel Tavares Correia, and my mother, Dolores Tavares Correia, turned this vision into reality, bringing Tacorsil to life.

PL: Tell us a little about Tacorsil and its evolution over the years.

RCB: Since its foundation, Tacorsil has closely followed market developments. Initially focused on the production of traditional lampshades, we quickly expanded our portfolio to meet new trends and demands in the sector. Currently, in addition to our product offering, we are also dedicated to developing projects and fulfilling orders for the Contract market, offering customized and high-quality solutions.

PL: The market is increasingly demanding and concern for the environment has been reflected in the new EU Regulations and Directives. How does Tacorsil contribute to this more sustainable future?

RCB: More than a trend, sustainability is an ongoing commitment, reflected in each stage of our production and in the safety of our products. We seek to develop highly energy-efficient options, we use recyclable materials, we recycle whenever possible and we invest in more environmentally friendly production processes. Furthermore, we ensure that our products meet European standards, promoting efficient and environmentally friendly lighting.
