activities aligned with the European Green Taxonomy.
This indicator will be extended to SMEs, making it necessary for them to be able, in this way, to also report their ESG practices, as well as the % of sales volume, % of operational costs and % of investment that is aligned with the Green Taxonomy of EU, annually.
It is in this sense that SIBS supports the Corporate Sustainability Project. SIBS is developing a project involving a large group of Portuguese banks that allows all compan- ies in Portugal to report their ESG informa- tion on a single technological portal.
This approach avoids the need for companies to send separate information to several banks.
In this context, during the first half of 2024, SIBS will promote several training sessions that will explain to companies how to complete the questionnaires, helping them to identify, in a subsequent phase, the processes, policies, practices and indicators that they should be able to develop to be able to present a sustainable level of management that increases their competitiveness.
SMEs that complete these questionnaires by the end of April 2024 will also have support through (workshops) specific training on what they will need to do to improve their sustainable management performance, in order to become companies with lower ESG risk.
They will also have access to SIBS support to provide clarifica- tions on filling in the aforementioned portal.
The AICEP Academy, in partnership with IAPMEI, developed an online course on this subject, the ESG Course from A to Z of Sustainability Reporting, which is available on the e-learning platform.
Its objective is to provide companies with tools for diagnosing and self-assessing their level of maturity in terms of commitment and indicators, streamlining the processes for reporting and communicating ESG performance and providing mechanisms for reporting developments in this matter.
These issues are expected to gain more and more weight in the future and have a major impact on the planet.
Therefore, it is important that all your decisions and actions are carefully thought out, from choosing a supplier to expanding your activities, every business needs to think from an ESG perspective.
If each of us plays our part, we are guaranteed to contribute to a better world.
