Mas e se pensarmos no futuro? O que será que podemos ainda esperar? O Eng.º Silva Macieira “Acredito que nos estejamos a aproximar de um futuro promissor para a indústria Portuguesa, respectivamente no sector da iluminação. A presença das empresas junto das comunidades e eventos internacionais e o reconhecimento da qualidade e da excelência Portuguesa é de evidenciar, algo que pode ser facilmente provado pelo inexpectável crescimento económico que se registou neste ano. Certamente não será um retorno fácil e o sector ainda irá sofrer repercussões da crise, mas creio que as empresas Portuguesas estão prontas para esse desafio”.
Com a possibilidade de renovar o seu mandato, o Eng.º Silva Macieira deixou, também, uma mensagem a todos os Associados.
“Antes de mais, não posso deixar de agradecer aos nossos empresários pelo contributo diário que dão à Associação e à indústria de iluminação Portuguesa. É importante realçar que a AIPI existe para providenciar vários apoios aos seus Associados, e nada disso seria possível sem todo o trabalho inerente à Associação. Iremos manter-nos activos, resilientes e a reestruturar estratégias de sucesso. Princípios como sustentabilidade e a preocupação com o meio ambiente são o futuro, pelo que pretendemo-nos focar nesses valores, garantindo que este momento de viragem e de aprendizagem se transforme em algo rentável e viável para as empresas do sector”.

We couldn't talk about AIPI's 25 years without mentioning the motivation of each President and the vision of each one about the lighting sector. Each one carries their own experience, each one gave of themselves to this Association and ALL are part of OUR history.
We wanted to understand what led more than 20 companies in the decorative lighting sector to meet, in Leiria, in 1997, to define the creation of an Association representing the sector.
All were unanimous, the sector needed support, it had many difficulties in exporting and did not have access to European standards after Portugal joined the European Community in 1988. Mr. José Ferreira said that “at the time, the bureaucracy was very complicated and the Portuguese authorities were not prepared for this change. Although there was good will, there was a lot of resistance, so it wasn't enough”.
Mr. José worked at NERLEI and the companies he contacted felt so many daily obstacles that he decided to take the initiative to speak with several lighting manufacturers and expose the problem, it was decided to create an Association of the sector. The initial support of NERLEI and membership of CELMA (Federation of National Associations of Luminaires and Electrical Components Manufacturers in the European Union) “helped the interests of AIPI, which became an active voice in Brussels and began to be known in Europe and international markets".
