Preparations can then be made for the incoming patient to receive an immediate examination upon arrival .
Using cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology called Viz . ai , images of the patient ' s brain are immediately uploaded and sent to a neurologist who is participating in front-line patient care via a telerobot system , explained Shawn King , APRN , a specially trained NCH
stroke care nurse . The neurologist can then initiate a treatment plan , saving precious time .
" I can see all of the vessels in the brain , and if there ' s a blockage , its location , and then I can text everybody on the team , so they know exactly what I ' m thinking and what the plan is , without wasting time making different phone calls ," said Dr . AbuAwad .
The NCH Stroke Care Center provides comprehensive care with a dedicated stroke unit staffed with a dedicated ICU nurse , stroke neurologist , certified stroke care nurses , and nursing staff and physicians . On-site critical care coverage is available 24 hours a day , seven days a week .
