TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY
Ring in the holidays at the annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony at both Christmas Markets , a popular family-friendly event that serves as the official grand opening of the markets to kick off the holiday season . In Greenville , the Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place overlooking the beautiful Reedy River . In Savannah , the holiday tree lighting is preceded by a live reading from Roger Moss of “ Twas the Night Before Christmas ,” with special appearances by Santa Claus and Mrs . Claus .
This year , Plant Riverside District is also bringing back the Lynchburg holiday spirit in partnership with Jack Daniel ’ s with the lighting of a special 15- foot Barrel Tree , featuring five tiers constructed from 50 Jack Daniel ’ s Tennessee Whiskey barrels . Barrels from the tree will be available for purchase for $ 150 , with proceeds going to Operation Ride Home .

Experience the holiday season with live musicians and entertainment throughout the duration of the Christmas Markets as you stroll along the riverfront . The original Salzburg Christmas Markets were known for their genuine folk song and dance performances , and the ever famous “ Silent Night ! Holy Night !” Christmas carol actually originated in the province of Salzburg .
