Human Spatiality & Accesible Design| 2015
Situated in the countryside of Colombia, this Project seeks an atmosphere that leads to the well-being (social,
mental and physical) of elderly, a certain vulnerable population in Soraca; through the design of a Center that
gives them access to health services, involving conventional medicine combined with the resigni cation of tradi-
tional medicine, an important native cultural element. The Project, which is designed to bene t up to 225 local
families, is formed by a Healthcare Center, a Nursing home for Elderly, a Greenhouse & an Herbalist Center.
The concept of the design, the “Sanalotodo” (a medicinal native plant with curative properties) supports the fea-
tures of the formal composition, such as, its irregular form, the joint of volums by a public space, and the lineal
forms radiated from a hierarchical center. Furthermore, the Project meets the requirements of an Universal De-
sign, consisting in principles as equal, exible, simple & intuitive use of the space, and minimal physical effort.
