4 PORT TALBOT TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB 2013/14 Meet the Squad Scott Young DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL Bio: Scott Young initially arrived at the club in July 2012 as first-team coach, joining from AFC Porth but was appointed as Director of Football in December 2012 following the departure of Mark Jones. Scott enjoyed an illustrious playing career as a one-club man at his beloved Cardiff City until a persistent back injury ended his professional career ended in 2003/4. He attempted a brief return the following season, signing for Newport County first as a player and then as assistant manager. Young was capped by Wales at under-21 and B international level. He also received a call-up to the full Wales in March 2002 but remained on the bench during a 0-0 draw with Czech Republic. Ryan Green #2 DEFENCE Date of Birth: 20/10/80 Last season: 26 (1) apps, 1 goals Previous clubs: Wolverhampton Wanderers, Torquay United, Millwall, Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol Rovers and Hereford United. Bio: A versatile and solid defender, Green arrived at Port Talbot Town ahead of the 2012/13 season bringing with him a wealth of Football League experience. Ryan is perhaps best known for becoming the youngest player to play for Wales, on 3 June 1998, at the age of 17 years and 226 days old; a record that has since surpassed. In his debut season at Port Talbot, Ryan featured regularly in the centre and right-side of defence. James Bloom #3 DEFENCE Date of Birth: 11/08/91 Last season: 29(1) apps, 1 goal Previous clubs: Cardiff City, Falkirk, Alloa Athletic, Gloucester City Bio: Young defender who is comfortable operating at full-back or on the left of a central-three. A consistent performer, with experience in the English pyramid and in Scotland, ‘Bloomy’ established himself as a regular in the Port Talbot side since arriving last summer with a string of composed displays. Ashley Evans #4 MIDFIELD Date of Birth: 18/07/89 Last season: 9(1) apps, 2 goals Previous clubs: Newport County, Merthyr Tydfil, Ton Pentre AFC, Neath FC, Llanelli AFC Bio: Arrived from Llanelli in the January 2013 transfer window shortly after the appointment of Scott Young as manager, Ashley made an immediate impression in the second-half of the season, reinforcing the Port Talbot midfield.
