the University of Minnesota.
William Thompson is a professor of Public Administration at the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas. He received his B.A. and M.A. from Michigan State University,
and his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. While his hobby of the past half
century is country music, his research specialty is the gambling industry. He has
written several books about the subject including his latest. Gambling in America:
An Encyclopedia (ABC-Clio, 2000).
