Strategic economic development allows Arlington to build its commercial tax base while keeping the tax rate low so the City can continue to provide high-quality services – such as police, fire, parks and libraries – that our residents expect. GM Breaks Ground on Automotive Logistics Center General Motors and the City celebrated the groundbreaking of the $250-million Arlington Automotive Logistics Center in June. The redevelopment project will bring hundreds of new, good-paying jobs to The American Dream City. NorthPoint Development is constructing two warehouses with a combined 1.2 million square feet of industrial space for GM Assembly Plant suppliers on the former Six Flags Mall site at Division Street and State Highway 360. Arlington Ranks at Top of DBJ’s Economic Development Deals List HOME PLATE NEWS STORY With $1.55 billion worth of business deals done, Arlington scored the top spot on the Dallas Business Journal’s 2017 list of North Texas economic development deals ranked by value. The City of Arlington’s Office of Economic Development submitted seven deals, which were either funded or under construction, to be considered in the annual ranking. One of the City’s largest deals in 2016 was securing the future Texas Rangers $1.1-billion, climate-controlled ballpark, which is set to open in Arlington’s Entertainment District in 2020. The retractable- roof ballpark, which will be located next to the $250-million Texas Live! entertainment complex, is being built as a public-private partnership between HOME PLATE the City and the Texas Rangers. Arlington ranked No. 2 on the list the NEWS previous two years. STORY Summit Racing Equipment Opens to Car Enthusiasts’ Delight HOME In September, Summit Racing PLATE Equipment celebrated the opening of its fourth and largest location in the NEWS STORY country – right here in The American Dream City.
