AFC South preseason
Ryan Mallett is vying with Brian Hoyer to be Houston’s starting QB. He opened Saturday’s 14-10 loss to
Denver, but failed to move the offense. The Texans
punted on his two possessions. Hoyer was also unable
to convert in his four drives. Head coach Bill O’Brien
said the competition remains “very even.” Indy first
round pick Phillip Dorsett, running back Frank Gore
and receiver Andre Johnson all made their home
debuts in the Colts 23-11 loss to the Bears. Dorsett had
three receptions for 21 yards. Gore had two carries for
10 yards. Johnson had one catch for 8 yards, but also
caught the 2-point conversion pass.
Continued from 20
in the NFL. The Jaguars were led in sack-fumbles by
11th-year defensive end Chris Clemons. Clemons’ four
sack-fumbles in 2014 are the most by a Jaguars player
in the past five seasons and were the most in the NFL.
The Jaguars defense amassed 45 sacks, sixth-most in
the NFL. The 45 sacks are the fourth-most in Jaguars
history and the most since 2005. Last season, the Jaguars defense forced 19 fumbles, the most in franchise
history. The team’s 19 forced fumbles were the thirdmost in the NFL.

Tebow time
London calling
The Jaguars will face the Buffalo Bills in London on Oct. 25. The NFL announced that it
selected Yahoo! Inc. as its exclusive partner to
deliver the first-ever live stream of an NFL game
to a global audience across mobile devices and
for free.
CBS will broadcast the game in the Jacksonville. In 2012, the Jaguars made history by becoming the first club to commit to playing four home
games at London’s historic Wembley Stadium.
Tim Tebow got another loud ovation from Philadelphia fans when he entered the fourth quarter in
the Eagles’ 40-17 preseason win over the Baltimore
Ravens. He was 2 of 5 for 13 yards and rushed for
31 yards, including a 26-yard run. The former Nease
and Florida QB is competing with Matt Barkley
for the No. 3 job behind Mark Sanchez and Sam
Bradford. “I love it,” Tebow said of coach Chip
Kelly’s up-tempo offense. “The more I play the more
comfortable I feel.” Tebow is expected to make the
team.
