Pomona Unified School District
Bright Prospect Receives Boost
from L.A. County Supervisor
C
ollege prep program Bright Prospect has
catapulted countless Pomona Unified
students to success, helping them gain admission to,
succeed in and graduate from four-year universities
since partnering in 2002.
“Bright Prospect has done so much for my life
and the lives of so many
others,” said Garey High
School graduate Juan
Ledesma, who attends
UCLA. “It’s been an inspiration to me to pursue
my dreams of becoming
a lawyer and returning to
Pomona Unified to give
back to those who have
helped me.”
To bolster the work of
Bright Prospect, Los Angeles County Supervisor
Hilda Solis donated $7,500.
“You are on your way to a better lifestyle and a
better career for yourself and family,” said Solis, who
became the first Latina elected to the State Senate and
most recently served as the U.S. Secretary of Labor
under President Barack Obama. “The sky is the limit.
Don’t put any barriers in front of you.”
Each student in the
program receives college readiness guidance
and ongoing mentoring
from 10th grade through
college graduation. The
program serves more than
1,200 PUSD students.
“I’m excited that there
is such a collective effort
among our partners, like
Bright Prospect, to support
college and career readiness,” Superintendent
Richard Martinez said.
Bright Prospect recibe impulso del Supervisor del
Condado de L.A.
D
No pongan ninguna barrera frente a ustedes.”
