There have always been a number of reasons to love Polo Golf and Country Club, as the members enjoy a golf course designed by
award-winning architect Joe Lee, a dynamic clubhouse, a fitness center, an adult pool and a family swim and tennis center. Now,
there are going to be a few more reasons, as the club and new owner Sequoia Golf have implemented a comprehensive $2 million
capital improvement plan designed to elevate their offerings to an even higher level of quality.
First and foremost, this commitment to excellence is focused on the golf course, which features numerous elevation changes, large
greens with subtle breaks and water hazards on 15 of the 18 holes. More than 50 percent of the $2 million is planned for upgrading
the playability and playing conditions—including renovating all of the greenside bunkers using Perma Bunker™ technology—and
enhancing the overall aesthetics of the course.
The rest of the capital improvement plan will be focused on the non-golf amenities, clubhouse and surrounding landscaping,
including renovating the interior of the clubhouse to reflect upscale, transitional contemporary design elements and clean lines,
installing a new $150,000 fitness area inside the clubhouse, adding a golf performance center in the current fitness center building and upgrading the swim and tennis facilities by replacing awnings, resurfacing clay tennis courts, resurfacing the pool deck and
adding furniture and cabanas.
In addition to the up-front capital to improve the facility from top to bottom, Polo is also putting additional measures in place to
ensure the long-term viability of the club, including increasing the annual capital improvement budget by 250 percent, investing
in Polo’s workforce to allow the club to provide top-tier service and improved upkeep of the properties and increased member
programming and social events for all ages.
