It was cause for further celebration in the tourist’s camp when not only did they win The Royal Selangor Trophy and a Leica camera apiece, but captain Garaud was crowned Most Valuable Player. “Today was a real pleasure,” commented Garaud. “We started very well at the beginning and over the course of the different chukkas, we tried to stay well-organised on the field since we knew each other so well. At the third, we has some surprises, we missed some goals, we had a bit of a rush, and we started to play badly. In the fourth we raised our level of playing and told ourselves to stay strong and it paid off.” As with any polo match, much of the win is down to the ponies so it was a great cheer that went up from the crowd when Vinod Kumar’s Rama was Awarded Best Playing Pony.
