CEO’s
NOTES
Written by Mike Angangan
2020 has been a year of surprises! In particular
with the fires in Australia and only recently the
global effects of Covid-19. Hence, that is why I
am dedicated this edition my to those leading
the frontline; meaning the doctors, nurses, truck
drivers, cleaners, and those who have been
affected by this horrible virus. To those in the
frontline - I salute you!!
However, I must say that we have an incredible
edition coming and I am personally proud of it.
The reason being is that we have some major
players in this edition with Archduke Dr Geza von
Habsburg - the Curatorial Director for Faberge,
Rick Rockefeller-Silvia - Gold Equestrian Champion
and horse breeder and the family members of
Stefano Ricci - one of the world’s most iconic
luxury labels.
However, their is one interview that I am most
proud of is with Photographer Steve Burton who
used to be a former model turned photographer
where he shoots Los Angeles gang members
with a full set of tattoos and photoshops their
faces without them. So, when I saw the images
and support that these gentlemen have is
incredible. Their is a story that Steve tells when he
interviews them, and he asks ‘what do you think
of the photos? And their reply is it’s incredible
to see me without any tattoos and see me as
who I am - hence, in my opinion to see yourself
as a ‘newborn’ is phenomenal and the families
of these gentlemen see something that is
unrecognisable. For example, one of the mothers
say a picture of his child without his tattoos, she
was literally in tears. And those gentlemen are
now reversing those tattoos whether it be from
their previous social circumstances, the influence
from drugs or alcohol or any other situations or
circumstances - they themselves are seeing the
own new light.
Being a magazine publisher is a dream job
for me and a job worthwhile because I get
to interview some of the greatest minds ever.
Whether they are in finance, business, culture
or even luxury sector and to get ‘pick into
their brains’ or find out what their opinion on
something is so important to have, and to me
a lot of people I interview have now become
good friends and with that becomes business
opportunities. But for me - I see it as friendship
which no one can deny.
That’s why I am so proud to have Issue No.23
out of all the edition I have ever had. The reason
being is that sometimes I get frustrated with the
edition and sometimes with the people or PR
companies that I am involved in; but overall I
think about it and all I need to get done is do my
job by getting all the editorials and showcasing
the best of what luxury has to offer. And lastly,
seeing the response from my readers and see
how they act when it comes to the magazine.
So, that in itself makes me proud that I started this
in 2010 and being the 10th anniversary of Polo
De’Marco Magazine - I am truly blessed!
