Exclusive Interview Stefano Ricci Interview by: Mike Angangan, Editor Q1. The Stefano Ricci brand is a family-owned company. How did you build the company into what it is today? The road to success, if you can call it that, is long and laborious. It took years to arrive at the first results. They were intense years, full of constant dedication and scrupulous research, of enthusiasm, and investments. From the very beginning, I adhered to some fundamental principles: the pursuit of absolute quality, without ever compromising it. As my sons took over responsibility for the company, I found a new perspective; without this, I would have probably ended up selling STEFANO RICCI to one of the many bidders that have approached me throughout the years from abroad. But ours remains a family business; by family, I also mean the circle of collaborators who work alongside me every day to maintain a production level of absolute excellence. Throughout all this, as a Florentine, the city of Florence has helped me a lot, especially in my first years of activity. Q2. Stefano Ricci is known for its “sartorial excellence and perfection”. How do you design a suit for a man who has everything? The STEFANO RICCI man already has everything; he does not enter a boutique to purchase just one suit. He decides on a selection of clothing to buy for his personal pleasure, cultivating his culture towards the concept of products over the years. He does not enjoy showing off the value of what he is wearing. It is for his own pleasure. He selects his fabrics with matching color combinations and accessories. He wants to live this emotion personally, to receive appreciation for his look. Polo De’Marco July 2020
