World Health Organization
(WHO) and the United
Nations (UN) approached
international advocacy firm Global
Citizen asking to rally support
against COVID-19 pandemic by
inspiring people to take action and
bringing them together through
music. Global Citizen responded by
launching One World: Together At
Home special featuring a number of
high profile celebrities.
The eight hour special premiered
in more than 175 countries on
over 60 international broadcast
networks reaching hundreds of
millions of people in every corner
of the world. The show started with
a digital stream spanning over six
hours and was followed by a twohour
special broadcast hosted by
Stephen Colbert of The Late Show
with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel
of Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Jimmy
Fallon of The Tonight Show.
The broadcast special and digital
stream featured insightful discussions
with, and tributes to, a multitude
of healthcare experts, scientists,
frontline workers, and first responders
who have played a critical role
in our fight against the COVID-19
pandemic.
By mid-April, Global Citizen
announced that, with the
support of Lady Gaga, they
are committing $127 million
to provide required assistance
to frontline health workers who
are fighting against COVID-19.
On this significant occasion,
many philanthropists as well
as corporate partners also
declared their support for WHO’s
COVID-19 Solidarity Response
Fund. These donations will go a
long way in reinforcing WHO’s
efforts all around the world
including Coalition for Epidemic
Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
One World: Together At Home
initiative also aims to deliver
direct support to more than
100 regional charities through
fund provision including
United Way, Feeding America,
Direct Care, Education
Cannot Wait and more.
A number of foundation
leaders, investors, and
activists also pledged
their money to support
related struggles such as
vaccine development and
enhanced healthcare.
