ReadingPals Early Literacy Initiative : ReadingPals is a statewide early learning initiative that provides volunteer mentors for students who may need extra help utilizing one-on-one or small group settings . UWCF ReadingPals volunteer in select Polk County Schools for one hour , one day a week ( or more ) using a curriculum designed to enhance literacy skills that kindergarteners need to master . Email :

Master Teacher Early Literacy Initiative : Provides supervised internships for staff in childcare sites serving low-income children . Helps to increase school readiness rate .
Success By 6 : Provides early learning information , called Born Learning , to help raise happy , healthy children which also includes Born Learning Trails in the community . It also provides Parent Lending Libraries at child care centers to encourage parents to read to their child . SB6 is also a local Dolly Parton Imagination Library facilitator which aims to increase literacy for children ages 0-5 .
