About: Lakeland Regional Health's Outpatient
Rehabilitation offers speech therapy in which a Speech-
Language Pathologist evaluates all areas of language,
including verbal expression, listening comprehension,
and written expression. The Pathologists are able to
evaluate children ages 0-18 for specific deficits that are
impacting their reading and writing and create a plan to
meet their needs. The speech therapy service offers
home exercise programs and resources for tutoring, as
well as education to families to improve their child's
literacy skills. The Speech-Language Pathologists also
advocate for the child about services they can receive in
schools that they may not be aware of.

About: The Lakeland Institute for Learning is a school for
special needs (ESE/ELL) students whose purpose is
to deliver a traditional and modiȴed curriculum
along with clinical services to students within the
school setting in order to facilitate their overall
well-being and maximize their academic growth.

About: The Lake Wales Literacy Council offers several literacy services -
- One-on-one tutoring in Adult Basic Education (ABE) reading, writing, and math for individuals reading below the 9th-grade level
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for students who want to improve their English language proficiency and to ease the
process of cultural and social assimilation through one-on-one, small group or class instruction
- Workplace literacy programs and other programs tutoring those pursuing their GED or developing their English language skills
- Tutoring for those eligible to take the U.S. Citizenship test
- Support for other area groups offering ESOL instruction.
