About: The Family Literacy Academy works with families to
become lifelong learners. Social workers help families with
issues that prevent them from providing a language rich
home. The Academy serves parents with children between
1 month and 10 years old where one parent is in need of
his/her GED (high school diploma) or wants to learn
English ESOL. Parenting and life skill classes are also
provided. The Academy serves Lake Wales and
surrounding area.

About: Girls participate in daily programs that emphasize
math, science, and technology education, pregnancy
prevention, media literacy, sports participation,
leadership development, adolescent health, economic
literacy, substance abuse prevention and anti-violence
education. Girls Inc. of Winter Haven serves the towns of
Winter Haven, Auburndale, Eagle Lake, Lake Alfred,
Wahneta, and other Eastern Polk County communities.
Serves girls Kindergarten through Middle School.

enrichment, character, and youth development programs
exclusively for girls in grades K-12 in West Polk County
