TIME IS MONEY You can’t afford to be late with the world’s most expensive timepieces. Don’t look for these watches in your local retail store. Not only are they extremely rare, but they cost more than most people’s life savings. With hand crafted mechanisms, exotic designs, and hundreds of rare gems, these watches are recognized around the world as true ‘timeless masterpieces’. 1. 201 Karat Chopard ($25 million) This watch is heralded as the most expensive in the world and rightfully so. Each of the main diamonds are heart-shaped, the white diamonds weigh in at 11 karats, the blue at 12, and the pink at an incredible15 karats. They are set in a bracelet encrusted with pear-shaped yellow and white diamonds arranged in flower motifs. With a press of a button, the three heart-shaped diamonds open to mimic a flower in bloom and reveal the small round watch face. This watch is more of a work of art than a timepiece, and most certainly a sight to behold. 2. Platinum World Time ($4 million) As its name clearly states, this watch allows you to view 24 different time zones simultaneously without a single touch. Through such innovative craftsmanship as this, Patek Philippe remains one of Geneva’s only independent watchmakers. Collectors and travelers alike can choose between the standard yellow, white, or rose gold, or of course a stunning platinum face. 3. Sky Moon Tourbillion ($1.3 million) Founded in 1851 the Phillipe Patek Co. succeeded in producing one of the first double faced wrist watchesthat displays a full view of the nocturnal sky. Of all Swiss designs, this timepiece is the most difficult to craft, and equally the most brilliant. 4. Hublot Black Caviar Bang ($1milion) After leaving the Scion Company, Italian designer Carlo Crocco created his own company, Hublot, in 1980. This watch from the Big Bang Line consists of over 100 precious stones, the majority being a selection of rare black diamonds. To top it off, the Black Caviar Bang comes with an exquisite 18-karat white gold case. 5. Grande Complication ($800,000) 32 This watch serves as a perfect example of traditional Swiss design.
